UK Driving Test Changes

UK Driving tests, as of Monday, 4 December 2017 will be making huge changes. If you are taking lessons, or thinking about taking lessons, then this article will be very informative for you because tests are going to be completely different to how they used to be. The DVSA have recently released the plan proposed for the new driving test.

The changes are being put in place to match the change of the modern world. Making sure drivers know how to use modern technology and are more independent whilst driving. The Driving Vehicle Standards Agency said it’s “designed to make sure new drivers have the skills they’ll need to help them through a life-time of safe driving”.

Using a Sat-Nav and more independence whilst driving is at the forefront of the changes. Some learners are worried about how the changes may effect them – should they start preparing for the current test rules, or the test rules of the from December onwards? Some students are trying to pass as quickly as possible to make sure the structure of their lessons don’t change. Finding an earlier test using SpeedyTests driving test cancellation checker, or any other cancellation checker, could be an option to enable you to take your test before the changes.

For those who will be thinking about the test from December onwards, this information will be important to you:

Four big changes to driving tests

1. Sat-Nav inclusion

Yes, a Sat-Nav will now be integrated into the driving test. And to be honest, this does make a lot of sense and perhaps is well overdue. Sat-Nav driving can be completely different to traditional driving. You have to be aware of your surroundings, as well as concentrate of the Sat-nav, which is a difficult thing to do. The test centre will provide the Sat-Nav, you aren’t allowed to use your instructors. You are able to ask the instructor before setting off as to where the target destination is too, if this makes you feel more confident. You are allowed to go the wrong way, as long as there are no majors errors whilst doing so. You will be marked normally, just stay calm and follow the Sat-Nav’s instructions whilst doing so. Not all driving tests will include a sat-nav, but the majority will. Four out of five tests will feature this challenge.

2. Increased duration of Independent driving

Independent driving will now be increased to twenty minutes. In the past, this used to only be ten minutes. This doesn’t make much of a difference, but, again I think it makes sense. When you pass your test, you won’t have your driving instructor anymore – so for you to drive ‘independently’ you need to be able to drive comfortably on your own. During the independent driving part of your test, the examiner will tell you a destination he/she wants to go too, and you will need to follow the signs to get there, this will be for nearly ½ your driving test. Sounds simple, but it’s a completely different type of driving to the driving you will experience with your driving instructor so practice is definitely needed.

3. Show me, tell me’ questions moved into practical situations

Beforehand, ‘show me, tell me’ questions were done before the test. This is no longer the case, only one question will be asked beforehand. Now, the questions will be asked DURING the test. This may seem scary – but in all honesty, you should know these questions at this point. The questions may include, how to use your windscreen wipers for example.

4. Manoeuvres are changing

Two manoeuvres have been taken away from the driving test. Your ADI should still teach you them, though. The three manoeuvres which you may be faced with is:

Parallel parking

Bay Parking

Pull up, reverse and then safely re-join traffic.…

Tow Truck Operators Are Highway Superheroes

The tow truck industry is one of those industries that doesn’t get a lot of attention until you blow a tire, or you late model automobile conks out for no apparent reason. When you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere, a tow truck operator becomes your new best friend. Once that friend saves you from a disastrous situation, the truck and the operator vanish, and they become a memory. Towing service operators are the superheroes of the automobile industry. They do what they have to do with no fanfare. These superheroes are always waiting to rescue another mortal when the time comes.

If that description sounds a little off the edge, then you may be one of those people who are fortunate enough to go from point A to point B without incident. But the chances you will need a towing service are high because there are more vehicles on the road, and those vehicles tend to be a little finicky from time to time. Another interesting fact about towing service operators is, they are members of the first responder group when vehicles collide for one reason or another. Tow truck operators may not wear a neat uniform, but they are an important part of getting damaged cars off the road.

Tow truck services are not new. The towing industry is almost 100 years old. One tow truck legend claims the driver of a Ford Model T lost control of his Tin Lizzie in 1916, and he found himself in the Chickamauga Creek in Chattanooga. The man’s brother was a gas station operator, and he brought ten men to the creek to help his brother. It took those men eight hours to do the job. A light bulb went off in the service station operator’s mind. He could make money towing cars when they broke down. The towing industry got off the ground in Chattanooga, and the industry is now a multi-billion-dollar industry. There is even an International Towing and Recovery Museum and Hall of Fame in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The good news is, towing services are everywhere these days. People stuck on the highway or a street in Las Vegas know the Vegas Towing Service will come to their rescue. Vegas is not the place to break down or have an accident, but if an accident occurs Vegas Towing Service is ready to help 24 hours-a-day. Some folks wonder if there is a “tow truck near me?” And the answer is yes. There is a towing service near every “me” in the country. There are more than 38,000 towing services around the country, and more than 86,000 tow truck operators are ready to help you in your time of need.

There are superheroes working round the clock in every city in America, but they don’t dress the part. They are people like the guy next store, the woman sitting next to you in church, or the mechanic that works at your local service station. Tow trucks have come a long way in the last 100 years, and the people who operate them, and the services they offer, have too.…
